Thioacetazone is an antitubercular agent.{58703} It is active against M. tuberculosis H37Rv, M. kansasii Bostrom, and M. avium serotype 2 (MICs = 0.3, 0.6, and 20 µg/ml, respectively) but not M. simiae N29 or M. intracellulare serotype 16 (MICs = >40 µg/ml for both). Formulations containing thioacetazone were previously used in the treatment of tuberculosis.
