Testosterone decanoate (Item No. 22544) is an analytical reference standard categorized as an anabolic androgenic steroid that can be detected in urine, blood, and hair.{36016,36017,11719}. It is an ester of the naturally occurring androgen, testosterone (Item Nos. 15645 | ISO60154) with a longer half-life. Testosterone decanoate reduces mortality and proteinuria in a murine model of lupus.{37015} Formulations containing testosterone decanoate in combination with etonogestrel (Item No. 21062) have been investigated for use as a long-acting male contraceptive.{37014} Anabolic steroids, including testosterone decanoate, have been used to enhance physical performance in racehorses and athletes.{36017,38010} This product is intended for research and forensic applications.
