Stevioside is a natural non-caloric sweetener and glycoside form of steviol (Item No. 10011344) that has been found in S. rebaudiana and has diverse biological activities.{23357,23358,61929,23359,61930} It increases glucose-stimulated insulin secretion in isolated mouse pancreatic islets when used at a concentration of 1 µM.{23358} Stevioside (1 mM) reduces LPS-stimulated increases in TNF-? and IL-1? production in THP-1 cells, but also induces TNF-? and IL-1? production in unstimulated THP-1 cells.{61929} It decreases systolic blood pressure in Goto-Kakizaki (GK) type 2 diabetic rats when administered at a dose of 0.03 g/kg.{23359} Stevioside reduces ear edema induced by 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate (TPA; Item No. 10008014) in mice (ID50 = 291.6 µg/ear).{61930}
