Bertin Bioreagents innovations displayed at the EUROTOX Congress 2018 | September 2-5, Brussels, Belgium
According to intergovernmental organizations, “An endocrine disruptor is an exogenous substance or mixture that alters function(s) of the endocrine system and consequently causes adverse health effects in an intact organism, or its progeny, or (sub)populations“.
During all our lifetime, we are exposed to Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs) while breathing, eating or drinking. According to the doses we absorb, those chemicals disrupt the endocrine process and produce deleterious effects on organisms or descendants such as sterility, cancer, growth, appetite or sleep. The scientific challenge is to find and monitor the appropriate biomarker to predict their effects on any ecosystem and more generally speaking on the environment. The best species to monitor those pollutants are fishes, insects and crustaceans. They are found everywhere and their life cycle is very short to demonstrate the adverse effects of those chemicals.
Bertin Bioreagent offers easy and cost-effective products to complete any eco-toxicology, endocrinology or environmental study. Discover our solutions booth #47 during the 54th Congress of the European Societies of Toxicology (EUROTOX 2018), taking place in Brussels on September 2-5.
