Capsorubin is a carotenoid that has been found in C. annuum and has diverse biological activities.{61636,61637,61638} It inhibits lipid peroxidation induced by 2,2’-azobis(2,4-dimethyl valeronitrile) (AMVN) in vitro when used at a concentration of 167 µM.{61636} Capsorubin (1 µM) decreases UVB-induced formation of DNA strand breaks and apoptosis in isolated human dermal fibroblasts.{61637} It also inhibits Epstein-Barr virus early antigen (EBV-EA) activation induced by phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (TPA; Item No. 10008014), a marker of tumor formation, in Raji cells.
